Featured Adoptable: Shep
Shep is looking for an adopter OR a "forever foster." He is an estimated 7-10 year old German Shepherd mix who was picked up as a stray by local animal services. Shep is a very sweet dog and loves people and older kids.
He is a very smart boy and knows how to sit, lay down and shake and a perfect gentleman in the house. He enjoys playing with fuzzy squeakers and chewing on antlers. The big guy (about 90 lbs.) is usually great on a leash, but can pull if something like a rabbit catches his eye; so, he'd do well with a Gentle Leader or Freedom Harness.
Shep came to the shelter with a large tumor on his face and another on his shoulder, causing him difficulty in walking. In addition to the two tumors, Shep had several large fatty lumps in other places on his body. He underwent two very successful surgeries to remove those growths. Unfortunately, more of the fatty lumps have re-appeared. Shep will need continued vet care as a result to make sure they don't inhibit his movement. Otherwise, he's doing wonderful and has the energy to run in a yard. Although he loves people, Shep is particular about his furry friends. He would do well in a home without a cat (or other small animals he might think of as prey), and needs to meet any potential dog brothers or sisters prior to adoption.
